Steps to Nominating & Voting on Deacons

  • 1 Read and pray through 1 Timothy 3:8-13.
  • 2 Review the qualifications for a deacon below.
  • 3 Reach out to the man you’d like to nominate and ensure he is willing to participate in this process.
  • 4 Fill out the form, either online or in the lobby at the welcome desk.
  • 5 The nominees will receive a questionnaire and will be interviewed by the Leadership Team.
  • 6 The nominees will be voted on by the church at the Quarterly Member Meeting on Nov. 17. Each nominee will need approval from 3/4 of those voting at the meeting.

Qualifications

  • Must meet qualifications in 1 Timothy 3:8-13
  • Already serving in our faith family by spotting and meeting tangible needs, protecting and promoting unity, and supporting and serving the Word
  • Must be a man of 21 years of age or older
  • Member in good standing at Hebron for at least one year
  • Active in and consistently giving in support of the ministries of Hebron
  • Adheres to our Statement of Faith in Article III of our bylaws

Qualifications

  • All Elders must meet the applicable qualifications in 1 Timothy 3:1–7 and Titus 1:6–9, about personal integrity, family relationships, and doctrinal fidelity. All Elders are annually to affirm the Statement of Faith and renew their commitment to shepherd God’s people at Hebron.
  • Men who desire to be an overseer because of the Spirit’s leadership (Acts 20:28; 1 Timothy 3:1)
  • Must be a man of 21 years of age or older
  • Men who are beyond reproach (1 Timothy 3:2-7)
  • Men who can teach and manage their household well (1 Timothy 3:2, 4; Titus 1:9)
  • Men and not just man – a plurality of qualified men rather than just one man (Acts 11:30; 14:23; 15:2, 4, 6, 22-23; 16:4; 20:17; 21:18; Phillippians 1:1; James 5:14; 1 Peter 5:1)
