Does baptism save me from my sins and make me a follower of Christ?
Baptism is an act of obedience to Christ (Matt. 28:19). Being baptized can’t save you from your sin (no religious act or ceremony can). We are saved by grace through faith in Christ alone (Ephesians 2:8-9).
What if I was baptized before I placed my faith in Jesus?
Baptism is a symbol of your relationship with Christ (Romans 6:3-5). It is a way to publicly identify with Christ (1 Corinthians 15:3-4). Biblical baptism always occurs after someone has placed their faith in Jesus.
Do I have to be baptized by immersion?
Baptism by immersion best represents the description of baptism in Romans 6:3-5. Being buried with Christ through baptism is portrayed by going under the water and being raised to walk in a new life is portrayed by coming up from the water.
How old do I have to be to be baptized?
There is no specific age given in the Bible for when a child is ready to be baptized. A child being baptized should have placed their faith in Christ, understand the meaning of baptism, and have a good understanding of what it means to follow Christ. We have a class for children 5th grade and below that teaches about salvation and baptism.
Can I be baptized more than once after I place my faith in Christ?
There is no Biblical reason to be baptized more than once after you have placed your faith in Christ.
