Yesterday, we divided into groups. One group stayed in San Cristobal and drove up to the nearby mountains to deliver food to some elderly citizens. We learned that a lot of times their families don’t visit them. We also sang “Praise to the Lord” in English, Spanish, and their native Mayan language called Poqomchi’. We also had lunch at a little park which was super fun, and we stopped for ice cream after.
The other group hiked into the villages to deliver food. The hikes were sometimes long and hard, but we had a lot of fun and kept our spirits up! We even got to meet one of our translator’s family and see his home, which was really awesome.
